A Lone Bird
February 2026
They saw through gilded bars, A lone bird among the stars, And pity they did start to feel, Pray this wayward bird should heal, Come with us at once, they said, Lest you wind up duly dead, We’re safe in here together, Brother of bonded feather. The bird replied, my dear friends, Who knows how this journey ends? Vision tunneled at golden gate, So I dared venture past my fate, Not life or death, nor love defy My will to soar these boundless skies, Pity me not, for I took the chance To lend my wings to nature’s dance.
