The Visitor
How the Divine tries to reach us in unexpected forms—and how we respond. (February 2026)
How many times have I visited! Your memory, by nature, betrayed. Seeing all that it believes, A fickle and feeble aid.
When I visited as a beggar, You turned up your nose, Seldom do such lofty heights See past wretched clothes.
When I visited as a noble, You stalled, nervous to greet. Not even love could lift a heart That begs its place at another’s feet.
When I visited as a robin, You adored my colours bright, But fleeting was attention, And I flew off from your sight.
Then I visited as a robber, Demanding all your senses, You were too alert this time, So I failed to break defences.
A Friend! My last resort, To get in your good graces, Still, recognition could not pierce The veil of deceitful faces.
Eventually, did my visits stop, Or was that just a dream We shared with one another, For a moment, it would seem.
